Tonnara Plage

Description of the site

Pinarellu is touristic village. Only a few houses, some hotels and restaurants and a lot of people on the beach.

The beach faces open sea. Caused by that, the waves can be pretty high in Eastern wind conditions.

Google Maps offers a resonable view on the beach at the most East point of the beach, although the details are not very good in this picture.

For Google Earth users: our provider Tele2 is not willing to change the MIME-settings of the server, so the server does not support placemark files. Therefor we supply two alternatives:
- save placemark file as *.kmz file (so not as zip) and duouble click it from your explorer, or
- cut and paste the coordinates into the 'fly to' box: 41 40 35.97 N 9 22 24.89 E (this is the most precize way to view the spot anyway!)

Snorkeling character:

I have to admit that this one star is only a wild guess. The day we visited Pinarellu, the snorkeling conditions were so bad we did not even get into the water. The combination of North East wind and sandy beach made the water muddy. With these wind condtions, trying to find Vardiola Plage could be a good idea. It's closeby, but a little hard to find.
When the wind blows form the west, this place seems to be pretty good, judging the pictures we saw.
When you're driving a four-wheel-drive, you could try to reach the Southern end of the bay. A litle further you will find yourself at the Southern side of a small peninsula. This place may also be good enough with Nothern wind.

Travel suggestions

Driving on the N198 (Porto Vecchio - Bonifacio) you will see signposts to Pinarellu. Once in the village, there are several options to get to the beach. Finding a parking place will not be a problem.
