Snorkeling at Punta Capicciola

Description of the site
The road map suggests a promising place: a narrow peninsula that protects the Southern beach at North and North-West
winds.
The map also shows that the place may be difficult to reach
The day we visited Punta Capicciola the wind was North-East. The Northern 'corner' between the coast and the peninsula
was converted into a pot hole, waves smashing over the rocks.
To reach the Southern beach, you will have to cross private property, a path shows you were not the first to do so. When you reach
the sea, you will have to climb some three metres down to reach the beach. You won't be just by yourself since the beach is
very close to a summer village.
Google Maps offers a view on the beach and the peninsula the details are not very good in this picture.
For Google Earth users: our provider Tele2 is not willing to change the MIME-settings of the server, so the server does not support placemark files. Therefor we supply two alternatives:
- save placemark file as *.kmz file (so not as zip) and duouble click it from your explorer, or
- cut and paste the coordinates into the 'fly to' box: 41 38 54.93 N 9 22 46.41 E (this is the most precize way to view the spot anyway!)
Snorkeling character:
Poor. Very poor. When you reach the cliff beside the beach, the water looks very promising: flat and clear water with rocks
in the sea.
But the view is disappointing. The rocks are bare, no plats are growing on them, and there is no healthy sea grass on the
bottom. We did not see a single fish, not even some 50 metres from the beach.
Travel suggestions
Don't go there, it's not worth the trouble. The place is very difficult to reach too. You will have to drive through a summer village that does not have
proper signposts.
